Multiplying by eleven has a simple pattern for two-digit numbers: split the digits and sum them for the middle. Forty-three times eleven: 4 | 4+3 | 3 = 473. When the middle sum exceeds nine, carry to the left.

Base methods extend the near-100 technique to 1000 and beyond. Nine hundred ninety-eight times nine hundred ninety-seven uses offsets from 1000 and produces 995,006 through the same cross-adjustment logic.

Responsible use means verifying with estimation or standard decomposition until a technique is trusted. Speed without accuracy is worthless in financial, engineering, or health contexts.
