Why alaintv exists
Many mental math resources are either disconnected lists of tricks or worksheets with little explanation. alaintv takes a different approach: a sequenced curriculum in which every method grows from place value, arithmetic properties, and earlier skills.
The platform is designed primarily for adults who want greater confidence with everyday numbers, whether for work, study, shopping, personal finance, or simple curiosity. Teens and students can use the same progression as a supplement to formal education.
Our goal is not to replace calculators. It is to help people understand magnitude, choose efficient methods, and check results before trusting a device—or before trusting their own first attempt.

How the curriculum is created
Lessons are written and reviewed around established arithmetic identities and transparent worked examples. Advanced techniques are presented with their limits and paired with estimation checks. alaintv does not claim that one method is best for every learner or every problem.
We deliberately avoid thin “trick of the day” pages. Each lesson is meant to stand alone as useful education and also connect to earlier and later stages. When shortcuts appear, we explain when they fail and what to fall back on.
The material is educational, not a substitute for instruction from a qualified teacher where individualized support is required. We periodically revise explanations for clarity and welcome corrections through our contact page.
